Is Guest Checker Right For Us?

GuestChecker is a member driven database, designed for anyone who has short-term rental guests. We acknowledge that running your business is tough enough, without the additional concern of disrespectful guests.

Problem guests tend to strike more than once, so, by reporting these destructive, rude or disrespectful guests, a warning is provided. As an Owners Only, online community, we can share valuable information about our guests, good or bad. “If I had only known” could be something you say less and less, when we as an industry share our knowledge with one another.

As our community grows, so will the benefits of an already valuable database.  We record all pertinent guest information when a guest is reported, including: the full name, current address, phone number, etc., along with the type of incident that transpired. We have a predefined selection of the most common incidents, as well as a section for incidents not currently listed. Once a guest has been reported, they will be maintained in our database for 4 years. If the same guest is reported for a second offense by another member, it will be added to the existing profile and made readily available to you. The guest profile will indicate all reports from their history.

GuestChecker does not intend to dictate your clientele, only provide the information for you to make informed decisions regarding your guests. Whether you are an individual renting your home for the holidays, or a successful establishment, let our service protect your investment!

About GuestChecker

I have owned and operated a vacation rental company in North Georgia since 2005. Over the years, thousands of vacationers have passed by my reservations desk. The vast majority of guests are polite, courteous, and respectful; however, there are a small percentage of guests who are abusive to the staff, damage property, disturb other guests, and blatantly disregard rental policies. In order to avoid future problems with these guests, I maintained a list of names and offenses. Most accommodation providers have their own similar list. There has never been a way for the hospitality industry to share this valuable information. Until now.

GuestChecker was formed in the spring of 2010. Our goal is simple: to share information about specific guests, in order that other guests and staff may be better served.

GuestChecker allows business owners to review individual customers. Accommodation providers can now use GuestChecker.com to post concerns and/or compliments on individual guests, as well as view posts left by other providers.

Example: In June 2010, a customer named Myrna stayed in our most luxurious suite and had a final bill of $3,600. After checkout, she called her bank and issued a chargeback for the full amount. She claimed that she never stayed at our facility. I immediately added her name to the GuestChecker database. The next day I got a call from a nearby hotel thanking me for adding her information. Myrna was trying to check into their hotel but was denied service, saving them possibly thousands of dollars.

The GuestChecker database is posted, managed, and shared by hospitality providers. The purpose is to inform, and thus prepare these providers for a customers’ stay. GuestChecker is a voluntary reference database that has no enforceable power, but merely plays an advisory role.
